Fever Pitch the Opera
Fresh from its successful Union Chapel production of Kurt Weill’s Lost in the Stars (‘Genuinely inspiring’ – A Younger Theatre), Highbury Opera Theatre is delighted to announce Fever Pitch the Opera, an original musical staging of Nick Hornby's iconic Highbury story, Fever Pitch.
Fever Pitch the Opera is the first-ever musical version of Hornby’s book, which follows the ups and downs of life supporting Arsenal Football Club, intertwining stories of matches and the fortunes of the club with those of his own life as a writer. Composer Scott Stroman (HOT's Artistic Director) and librettist Tamsin Collison have re-imagined it as a comedy/drama with a professional leading cast and musicians supported by a large community chorus that includes dozens of local school children. With a musical style encompassing classical and jazz to terrace chants and folk-rock, the show reflects our common love of things that draw us together, whether music or football.
Fever Pitch the Opera is supported by Arts Council England, the Nicholas Berwin Charitable Trust, Arsenal Foundation, Islington Council, PRS for Music Foundation, and the Daley family in memory of Becky Daley.
