Daylight Music 264
Matthew Bourne & Kit Downes + Nik Bärtsch + The Hermes Experiment
There’s a thrilling collaboration this week: the award-winning Matthew Bourne (piano) with the highly-celebrated Kit Downes (organ). Given their inventive approaches to music, this is guaranteed to be a startling, involving performance on organ and piano.
Nik Bärtsch solo piano: Modular Movements. Born 1971 in Zurich. Pianist, composer and producer. Lives in Zurich. Ongoing work on his RITUAL GROOVE MUSIC as pianist and composer. Leader of MOBILE (since 1997; with Kaspar Rast, Mats Eser & Sha) and the zen-funk quartet RONIN (since 2001; with Kaspar Rast, Thomy Jordi (till 2011 Björn Meyer) and Sha. 2002 - 2012 also with Andi Pupato).
The Hermes Experiment is a contemporary quartet made up of harp, clarinet, voice and double bass. Capitalising on their deliberately idiosyncratic combination of instruments, the ensemble regularly commissions new works, as well as creating their own innovative arrangements and venturing into live free improvisation.
This event is part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.
