Multi platinum Greek folk artist Alkinoos Ioannidis released his debut record, Stin Agora Tou Kosmou, on Universal back in 1993. As a singer songwriter he has released 10 albums since and his most recent record Mikri Valitsa translates as Small Suitcase.
“What would I put in a small suitcase? What would I keep from the land and the version of myself I’d be leaving behind?”
A record written from a uniquely Greek perspective on the frontline of unprecedented immigration into Europe it asks the question “what would you take when you had moments to leave your house, your life, everything you know and flee. To begin a journey uncertain of where it will end and what it will take to get there.”
Alkinoos’ last London show in October 2016 sold out Union Chapel. A quiet evening of beautifully tender and sumptuously crafted folk music that demanded to be repeated. And, here it is for the last run of dates on the Small Suitcase tour 2 nights at Union Chapel announced for the 25th and 26th January 2018.
