Tre Voci presents Auro
Nonclassical are taking over Union Chapel for a night of music experimentation with Tre Voci cello ensemble, BBC Jazz Award-winning pianist/organist Kit Downes and Indonesian percussion ensemble the Southbank Gamelan Players. Come and hear fresh sounds, live group improvisation and DJ sets in the stunning octagonal Grade I-listed church in Islington.
This gig launches the release of Nonclassical's brand-new EP, featuring Tre Voci and Kit Downes.
To Shadow (world premiere) - Bryn Harrison: Each instrumental grouping (organ; 3 cellos; 4 gamelan instruments) can be seen as a shadow of the other. Lines are shared and ghosted. rising and disappearing in close succession. The material is highly repetitive and transforms slowly over time, drawing the listener further and further into the fabric of the music. Read more about this newly commissioned piece in an interview with the composer.
The Wonderful Widow of Eighteen Springs - John Cage. Performed by Laura Moody
