Mystic and traditional music from the Andes from Phaxsi Coca
Jeanette Rojas is a well-known Bolivian musician based in London. Phaxsi Coca, are two very important feminine elements of the Andean worldview: Phaxsi in the Aymara language means Mother Moon, and Coca, is the sacred coca leaf. She plays traditional instruments of the Andes: flutes, quenas and zampoñas as well as charango.
Klezmer Music from the Ben Comeau Ensemble
Originating in the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe, Klezmer music evolved among Yiddish speakers in the United States. There it fused with jazz styles. It has its own characteristic and evocative melodies reminiscent of the human voice.
It will be played by the Ben Comeau Ensemble, a group of competent and experienced musicians who are exploring this exciting music.
